A girl visiting Yellowstone National Park was gored by a bison and tossed into the air, park officials said Tuesday.
The 25-year-old girl, who was visiting from Ohio, was not recognized in a news launch from the park.
The woman approached the female bison Monday morning after it got here near a boardwalk at Black Sand Basin, close to Old Trustworthy geyser, the park mentioned.

Fuller / VWPics via AP Photos filePark rules require guests to stay greater than 25 yards from the animals, the biggest mammals in North America, that are unpredictable, can prime speeds of 35 mph and can jump a number of toes.
An estimated 2,300 to five,500 bison stay on the park, and so they have injured more folks than any other animal, the park stated.
When the visitor came inside 10 ft of the animal, the bison impaled her and "tossed" her 10 toes in the air, the park stated.
The lady had puncture wounds and other injuries and was taken to a hospital in Idaho, the service said. Her condition was unknown Tuesday.
Two different folks have been also near the animal when it gored the woman, the park stated. The release didn’t say if they were injured.
The park warned individuals to stay 25 yards from bison, elk, bighorn sheep and moose and not less than 100 yards from bears and wolves.
CORRECTION (June 1, 2022, 12:07 p.m. ET) A previous model of this article misstated the severity of the woman’s injuries. She was gored by a bison and suffered puncture wounds. She was not killed.
