Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on women’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.
“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.
“Those girls who should not too old or young must cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, with a view to keep away from provocation when meeting men who should not mahram (grownup close male family members),” the decree stated.
It added that if ladies had no essential work outdoors it was “better they stay at home.”
During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on girls.
