Guardian with concealed weapon unintentionally shoots self while at Arlington ISD faculty, police say

Arlington police stated Duff Elementary Faculty was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a guardian with a hid weapon had his gun by chance go off, hitting the mother or father within the leg.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police mentioned Duff Elementary School was placed on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a hid weapon had his gun by chance go off, hitting the guardian within the leg.

The college had early launch and college students have been launched at the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

According to police, the dad or mum, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by accident shot himself. His damage was not severe.

The school district stated White was contained in the constructing, close to the lobby area, and never within the hallway near students when the gun went off.

Police and college officials stated there was no risk made and the parent didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or employees were injured. The dad or mum was taken to an area hospital after being shot within the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones stated after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities.

Within the two days because the Uvalde mass school shooting, there have been five instances in North Texas associated to guns introduced to schools or threats made.

Arlington dad and mom said their minds immediately considered the worst when they had been notified.

No guardian ever needs there to be a motive for them to get a text message saying their kid's faculty is on lockdown.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the graduation day for sixth grade college students at Duff Elementary.

Whereas driving her son to school in the morning, she had a talk with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever happened at his faculty.

"If one thing occurred, you’ve bought to run anyplace that’s protected and hide," she told her youngster.
