ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police stated Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a mum or dad with a concealed weapon had his gun by accident go off, hitting the guardian in the leg.

The varsity had early release and students had been released on the deliberate time of 12:10 p.m.

In keeping with police, the dad or mum, identified as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by chance shot himself. His injury was not severe.

Police and school officers mentioned there was no threat made and the father or mother didn't have "malicious intent."

No students or staff had been injured. The mum or dad was taken to an area hospital after being shot in the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones stated after White was released from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in prohibited places and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Arlington parents stated their minds instantly thought of the worst when they were notified.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the graduation day for 6th grade college students at Duff Elementary.

Whereas driving her son to high school in the morning, she had a chat with him about Uvalde and what to do if one thing ever happened at his college.

"If something happened, you’ve obtained to run anywhere that’s safe and conceal," she informed her youngster.

Whereas some say the incident in Uvalde is just too contemporary to talk politics, Mitchell mentioned something needs to be performed now. 

"They want to talk about it, they wish to campaign on it, they want to fundraiser on it, however they don’t wish to actually move any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
