A California district lawyer declined to file prices Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.
San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reviews and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no fees be filed.
"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery towards another passenger on an airplane whereas waiting at the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe stated in an announcement.
"Our decision is that we'll not file any costs against Mr. Tyson based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These include the conduct of the victim leading as much as the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.
The case is now closed.
Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson stated the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what occurred earlier than the altercation.
David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
