Talking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I do not plan on popping out for the anthem going ahead until I feel higher about the direction of our nation."
In a blog put up, Kapler questioned whether or not the nation's management is dedicated to representing its folks's best interests and whether or not the United States is actually "the land of the free and the house of the brave.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked parents trying to arrange to cost in to stop the shooter, together with a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more vital than our children's freedom to go to highschool without having bulletproof backpacks and lively shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the dearth of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I could have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied together with your nation, you let it be known by protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion towards gun violence in the USA.Kerr refused to discuss basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, instead raising his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"In the final 10 days, we have had aged Black individuals killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have children murdered at college," Kerr told reporters at the start of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I'm tired. I'm so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated households which are out there ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Sufficient."
