Speaking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going forward till I feel higher in regards to the route of our nation."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the nation's leadership is committed to representing its individuals's finest interests and whether america is really "the land of the free and the home of the courageous."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mom in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her children. They blocked mother and father trying to organize to charge in to stop the shooter, including a father who learned his daughter was murdered while he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are extra essential than our kids's freedom to go to highschool with no need bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he called "the dearth of supply of the promise of what our nationwide anthem represents."

"I am not okay with the state of this country. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I want that I may have demonstrated what I learned from my dad, that when you're dissatisfied with your country, you let or not it's recognized by way of protest. The house of the courageous should encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action against gun violence in the United States.

Kerr refused to talk about basketball ahead of Recreation 4 of the Warriors' series towards the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed against gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's taking pictures.

"Within the final 10 days, we have had elderly Black people killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got children murdered at college," Kerr told reporters at the start of the press conference.

"When are we going to do one thing? I am drained. I am so tired of getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated families which might be out there ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Sufficient."
