A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a textual content message threatening to carry out a mass taking pictures, authorities mentioned.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said it had learned earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" sent by a scholar at an elementary college.

It stated its local faculty risk enforcement workforce was instantly notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy may be seen being led right into a police car.

“This student’s conduct is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the risk came just days after the deadly college capturing at Robb Elementary Faculty left 19 college students and two lecturers lifeless.

“Proper now shouldn't be the time to act like slightly delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This child made a pretend menace, and now he’s experiencing actual consequences.”

Marceno mentioned his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to research the incident.

The comment came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 college capturing after it came to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup as a substitute of immediately shifting in on the gunman.
