Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass shooting, police say

A fifth grade pupil in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities said.

In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office mentioned it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a student at an elementary school.

It stated its native college threat enforcement group was immediately notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written menace to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy can be seen being led right into a police automobile.

“This pupil’s behavior is sickening, particularly after the latest tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno stated in a statement, noting that the menace came simply days after the deadly school taking pictures at Robb Elementary College left 19 college students and two lecturers useless.

“Right now will not be the time to act like a little bit delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he said. “This baby made a pretend risk, and now he’s experiencing actual consequences.”

Marceno mentioned his staff “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to investigate the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the Might 24 faculty capturing after it got here to mild that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately transferring in on the gunman.
