Florida fifth grader arrested, charged with threatening a mass taking pictures, police say

A fifth grade student in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities said.

In a statement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Workplace mentioned it had discovered earlier that day of a "threatening text message" sent by a student at an elementary college.

It stated its native faculty threat enforcement staff was immediately notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written threat to conduct a mass shooting," the sheriff's office said.

In video shared by authorities, the boy will be seen being led into a police car.

“This scholar’s habits is sickening, especially after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno mentioned in a statement, noting that the risk got here simply days after the deadly college shooting at Robb Elementary School left 19 college students and two lecturers lifeless.

“Right now isn't the time to behave like a bit of delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he mentioned. “This baby made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing actual penalties.”

Marceno mentioned his crew “didn’t hesitate one second...NOT ONE SECOND,” to research the incident.

The remark came as authorities in Uvalde face mounting criticism over their response to the May 24 faculty shooting after it came to light that they waited roughly an hour for backup instead of immediately shifting in on the gunman.
